The second half of the Grenadiers à Pied have a way to go, so to fill the gap I present a vintage vignette.
|
A lone sentry stands guard while the Emperor considers his next move. |
|
General Dorsenne, Colonel-General of the Foot Grenadiers, arrives with the relief. |
|
Dorsenne: Guard, Halt! |
|
The ceremonial switcheroo is soon effected.... |
|
….and the Guard marches on. |
Dorsenne is a vintage Hinton Hunt
FN 360, on horse
FNH 10. He may just have stolen my favourite spot.
More grenadiers to follow in the next exciting episode, all things going well.

Stunning work Matthew worthy of the guard!
ReplyDeleteHe is the most exquisite figure, isn't he? One of Marcus's very finest, I reckon.
DeleteAbsolutly superb, wonderful pictures...and colors!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phil. I thought I needed a little tribute to Detaille, who is my favourite painter!
DeleteNice vignette; the GàP is gem of a casting - normally having one like that annoys me by showing up the rest but somehow it seems appropriate for the crème de la crème.
ReplyDeleteBTW the number of commanders you have beg a few more vignettes - how about converting a few French types the show off some captured standards to them? After all, you do like like painting flags.
Rob, you have an uncanny ability to read my mind. That is indeed one of my secret plans. Time and finding the spare figures for such excesses is the problem...
DeleteWell just be careful whose captured standards get presented....the grenadiers are, indeed, magnifiques, but I hope the original guardsman had time to pick up the sprig of pea sprouts he appears to have lost from his lunch box........
ReplyDelete*Laughter*. Every time I get those trees out a bit more drops off them. I'm sure they'll be quite bald eventually.
DeleteAs for the captured standards...well good old Blighty was not completely immune!
Wonderful figures! Very eager to peruse the rest of the unit once they are all mustered.
ReplyDeleteBest Regards,
Stokes
"Slow Cooked" is the only way to do these, Stokes!
DeleteThis Hinton Hunt figure is one of the nicest Old Guard figures I have seen and your painting is excellent.
ReplyDeleteThe unit is going to be unstoppable in the table top.
As Rob says, the FN 29s are such outrageously fine sculpts that they risk looking oddly out of place on the tabletop. The completed battalion is sure to be a bullet magnet!
DeleteI'm still learning my Hinton Hunts, but I believe Mr. Tennant had this figure serving as an Aide de Camp. I immediately released him from those duties and he is now awaiting the appearance of the Old Guard to command.
ReplyDeleteCambronne and the Chasseurs have been bearing the load for far too long now David, so it seemed like time to do something about it. Besides, I've been aching to have a crack at Dorsenne for about three years now.
DeleteLooking very good from here!
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt. You can't go wrong when you've got white gaiters!
DeleteThey look super, especially having a Sunday afternoon march through the woods! :)
ReplyDeleteCheers James!
