I ran out of time over the weekend to post these, so I'm doing it on a Monday night instead.
If there's the one thing I've learned from playing Muskets & Marshals, it's that it's very important to have a strong gun line. My latest effort in this direction is pictured below.
They're all beautifully crisp examples of vintage Hinton Hunt French Horse Artillery of the Guard, being codes:
FN 180: Officer pointing;FN 181: Gunner with porte-fire;
FN 182: Gunner ramming home; and
FN 183: Gunner carrying cannon ball.
I even have a little Hinton Hunt gun to go with them that ought to be ready by next weekend.
Best regards
WM
What’s not to love about these Matthew...
ReplyDeleteI would probably just charge all my cavalry at them... because it would look pretty 😂
All the best. Aly
I've done that a lot Aly, and for exactly the same reason, and it never ends well!
DeleteWonderful brushwork! The map in the officer's hand is an especially nice touch.
ReplyDeleteBest Regards,
Stokes
Quite a few of Marcus's artillery officers have maps, but I'm not entirely sure why that should be so. I've always thought they were a bit more appropriate for 1915 rather than 1815!
DeleteThank goodness morale for artillery has little impact on the game, otherwise these fine looking chaps would be nigh invincible. I am still smarting from your clever use of horse artillery at Rolica!
ReplyDeleteA handful of riflemen is all it would need, David!
DeleteYou're right though - horse artillery have super magical powers in M&M, so the Coalition is going to need something special to counter 'em.
Well done, beautiful gunners...especially the first one!
ReplyDeleteHe's one of Marcus's most delicious wee men, Phil. He'd also work rather well as a Chasseur a Cheval reporting on a reconnaissance, do'nt you think?
DeleteA really smart unit, not only in looks but also capability – what sort of ordnance will they get 8pdr or 6pdr?
ReplyDeleteI fancy a battery of these myself – just a shame that M&M, and most rules, while taking into account troop quality for infantry and cavalry don’t do so for artillery.
It's hard to tell what the calibre is supposed to be on Hinton Hunt guns, Rob!
DeleteIt takes a bit of timing, but Horse Artillery can be absolutely devastating in M&M, if one has sufficient dastardliness.
I rather like the idea of using the Officer as a Chasseur a Cheval. He is rather dandy and will certainly look the part.
ReplyDeleteIt's very tempting, isn't it!
DeleteWonderful Matthew, these are some of the best HH sculpts and beautifully painted!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ian! They certainly pack a lot into a very small space, so although the colour palette was very simple they were actually quite technically challenging. They looked better without the varnish, I think, so I'm hoping this will tone down a bit with time.
DeleteBeautiful figures Matt and you have brought out the detail and colour of the lacing spectacularly.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Cheers James. They had an awful long wait on the painting table, I'm sorry to say, as it took far longer to finish those accursed cuirassiers than I anticipated.
DeleteYou have a great blog.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it was hijacked and posted by Tango01 on The Miniatures Page.

Thank you for the heads up, BP. I've been "Tango'd" a few times now, but I'm not too worried about it!
DeleteI am still waiting to be Tango'd for the first time - and I look forward to it. Drives a bit more traffic to the blog. Blogger Police - I don't see what the problem is. The more links to a post the better - or else why bother posting it?
DeleteQuite so, WW, although I admit I was a tiny bit dismayed by Tango's posting of what was only meant to be a work in progress. I post on TMP myself from time to time, but only when I'm ready to.
DeleteI love this old school look. Great blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you WW!
DeleteStunning panting n the Guard horse artillery, just beautiful.
DeleteCheers Roy!
DeleteSuperb gunners...Bonne année!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil, and happy New Year to you too.
