A little light work

My new regiment is starting to take shape, although I've only finished one of them so far as a test figure.





He's a Hinton Hunt BN 93: British Light Infantryman charging, as are most of his comrades. I can't absolutely vouch for his vintigosity, but he seems OK. It's taken me five years to amass all the BN 93s I need for this  regiment, so I'm not complaining.

With a bit of luck I may have a colour party to show off by next week.

    So now you've set the standard for the 52nd? It's good to see you're firmly back in the painting saddle. Luckily my 52nd are some way down the painting queue and awaiting the last few stragglers, so hopefully all will have forgotten yours by the time mine make into the light.

    He looks dandy. British are fiddly to paint and the Lights even more so. Only 23 more to go.

    I have been taking a break from classic Napoleonics but I think it's time to get back on the horse, or to be more precise , finish off 6 Scots Greys that I started last year.

      The dreaded scarlet bleeding into the white parts is the worst bit. The only way I've found to avoided this is to another colour over the red and then white on top of that. It's all still a bit too high stakes for my liking.

      I can't wait to see the rest of your Scots Greys. Now they look really complex!

    The shoulder wings are indeed very off putting but you've made a superb job of yours! I am impressed that you have amassed enough of these for a whole unit. Curious to know how you will be doing the standard bearers?

      I used to be faintly miffed that Marcus didn't do any special figures for the flank companies of the British line infantry, but I think I'm grateful for it now.

      There were various options for creating the colours, and I'm not at all sure that I chose the best one. All will be revealed in the next post!

    The lace on British uniforms can be a bit tiresome… but the end result is worth it…

      It certainly is, and besides I haven't done a proper Hinton Hunt British regiment yet, so I'm actually really keen about these.

    How on earth did I miss seeing this post! How wonderful to log in and find the 52nd underway. Your dedication to vintigosity is admirable and I have no doubt will pay dividends in a stunning finished regiment.
