Yesterday a battle was fought. There were about 650 troops on the table:
With some very exciting action:
I won't have a full report for another week as I'm off on my travels today to spend a glorious week exploring Dunedin and the country thereabouts with two clever, beautiful, and brilliantly witty ladies. I'm hoping this will help me forget just how comprehensively and distastrously I was defeated!
À tout à l'heure

Wow! These are really nice - especially those white-coat cavalry!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Ion
Hello AP! Those are the Prussian Garde du Corps. They're about to get into a nasty brawl with the Frech Empress' Dragoons.
DeleteThat’s a great looking table Matthew and I eagerly await the full game report!
ReplyDeleteIt's going take me a while to live this one down, Ian. It certainly looked very pretty though.
DeleteIt must've been bad if you're now having to speak French! Have faith, the French may be riding high at the moment, but ... Proverbs 16.18.
ReplyDeleteI fear all North Germany is lost, Rob!
DeleteLovely taster, look forward to seeing the battle report despite your seemingly bad defeat!
ReplyDeleteI'm in therapy, Donnie. This consists of climbing up lumps in the landscape in the South Island, but I'll be back on line next weekend with a full report.
DeleteExcellent looking game (and I still love that hessian matting you use!).
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt. I like my green hessian cloth too. In fact I think the ping pong table should be repainted this colour. It's a very soothing shade and shows off the troops quite nicely I think.
Delete+1 for painting the table-tennis table that colour, and the hills, so they'll match the cloth (your 'away' field). As you say it's a great colour and still a light shade like the TT table which allows the troops to be the stars of the photos. My green vinyl flooring is much darker so the troops don't stand out as well, but I've learned the hard way that painting vinyl is not a good idea - I'm sure you remember the battle of the sticky field.
DeleteYour vinyl play mat was what inspired my vinyl road and river sections, Rob. I have to admite that they're still just a tiny bit tacky.
DeleteYou tease! Beautiful looking table though.
ReplyDeleteThe spartan, stylised tabletops of Grant, Young and Featherstone still inspire me, David. It's taken me the lonhest time to find the right shade of green though.
DeleteThe green looks quite reminiscent of the shade I chose! :)
DeleteYou are a man of exquisite taste and discernment, David!
DeleteA beautiful looking table Matthew…
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the action play out…
All the best. Aly
Cheers Aly. It's taking me ages to edit the pictures as it was a very murky spot, but the full report should be appearing very soon now.
