Mind the GàP

I'm off to Auckland on a work gig this weekend, so this week's post is a little earlier than usual.

Hinton Hunt Old Guard Infantry
La Garde réunie. Napoleon: Je suis content!
To recap, the figures are:

Hinton Hunt:
FN 29: Grenadiers of the Old Guard, marching x 20
FN 28: Grenadiers of the Old Guard, Sergeant, marching x 1
FN 27: Grenadiers of the Old Guard, Officer, marching x 1
FN 25: Grenadiers of the Old Guard, Drummer, charging x 1 (a David Clayton casting); and

Der Kriegspielers Napoleoniques set #20: Infantry of the Old Guard Command Group, Grenadier Eagle bearer x 1

They're going into battle next week.
Have a great weekend

WM

Edit:

What with all the talk of being shot to pieces and running away in the Comments, I thought I should post this quick test shot of the Guard getting ready for their grand photo session. Muskets & Marshals make guards units almost impossible to beat. That big red splodge, it occurred to me, is probably all that's left of  the last lot to tackle with them.

  2. Yes, yes, yes! A showcase unit.

    1. I hope not, Stokes. The dastardly Baron von Driberg is coming round to rough them up next week!

    1. Thank you, Mark. They are some of Marcus Hinton's very finest sculpts, I think, which makes my painting look rather better than it really is!

    1. Although it's very tempting is to leave them standing about in the rear where Baron Driberg won't be able to get at them, this doesn't tend to be my usual MO, David. I expect them to be shot to pieces.

  5. Simply works of art. No wonder the emperor is content. Make sure you don't put them in danger. Russian artillery is particularly well practised of late....

    1. They have an unfair advantage, Archduke. It's those little brass plates on their hats. When I painted them on they went "ping". The Chasseurs are feeling a bit miserable about this.

  6. An amazing unit Matthew - well done! Of course they may well rout in their first fight but this is to be expected.

    1. Cheers Ian. It is when you command them like I do.

  7. A stunning looking unit...
Even if they end up running away.... they will no doubt do it with style.
And you never know they may just trample their enemies under foot... with style.

    All the best. Aly

    1. Thank you, Aly. I'm very pleased with them. This is my first attempt at the GaP. Two abortive forays into Napoleonics in my teens petered out long before I was able to get to them.

  8. CLANG! That's the sound of my jaw hitting the floor when I saw these photos. WM, you are an artist!

    1. Cheers Dave. I thought the Chasseurs were looking lonely so I had to do something about it, but I may have ended up by upstaging them a bit. Still, the Dastardly Driberg will be quaking in his boots, which is the man thing.

  11. Finally back home at PC central (after not winning a single game out of 6!) so can post a comment but it's all been said. Gorgeous figures, stunning paintjob, and an M&M nightmare for everyone else.
But no rest for the wicked, or wicked painters, as I am already anticipating the next dazzling display of enamel on lead.

    1. Oh dear - I think I promised cuirassiers next. I may have to sneak in a few gunners to keep the eye candy flowing.

    1. Thank you, Mark. I am really chuffed with how they've turned out. It's going to be quite hard going back to line troops!
