Easter Rising

... on to the completed list, that is, but not quite there yet.

Just the packs, muskets and a few other odds and ends to go. They'll definitely be finished by next weekend. This is not before time, as I have some other very special things that I'm desperate to get started on.

Happy Easter

  1. Nice progress and nearly done, but not quite... the hostages will not be released until the Irish parade for my pleasure.

    1. Those bottle tops are hardened (with layers of paint) veterans. I've been using the same ones for about 10 years.

  3. Matthew, this is some of the finest figure painting ever bestowed on little soldiers. And on Irish soldiers. What are we to conclude?

    1. That's the luck of the Irish for you.

It is said that we have connections in Cork. I've never seen proof of this, but I've chosen to believe it anyway.

    1. Thank you Matt. The stakes are that much higher when painting DKs. A fair percentage of what you can see on there aren't really on the figures.

  5. I have a feeling blogger may have eaten my comment…
    So let’s try again…

Splendid work on these Matthew I am looking forward to seeing the whole unit finished and based…You continue to be an inspiration.
I have even started work on my own Irish unit…😁

    All the best. Aly

    1. You can't do vintage shiny and not have the Irish, Aly.

  6. Now that is some inspiring green! Those Grenadiers and Voltigeurs really look sharp and will be the dash of colour needed to bring this unit under the gaze of old Boney himself. A good thing Lawless is wearing his dress uniform!

    1. Lawless, as you say, has to be flawless. This was touch and go for a while as he refused to remain stuck to his horse. I've tried a slightly stronger glue now, however, so hopefully he'll stay put.

  7. Lovely work, they are such great figures and your top notch painting really takes them to another level. Never get tired of looking at them.
