Clonk

That being the sound of my pious painting intentions shattering against reality. I've made virtually zero progress this weekend due to a cascading series of domestic issues, each trivial in nature but sufficient in aggregate to keep me away from the painting table.

Herewith one from the archives to serve as a teasing foretaste of the grand French cavalry review that will eventually...er...eventuate:

Yours, thoroughly browned off

P.S. Blogger has been playing silly buggers for a while now. If I receive a comment I invariably publish it, so if you have not seen your comments appear it's because Blogger has failed to transmit them to me for some reason. If this is the case, please don't hesitate to use the snazzy new message form I've added to the front page, and I will publish your comments on your behalf.

  1. Never mind and chin up. If it's any consolation my weeks been like this but I'm through it and will be painting after breakfast.

    1. Thank you, Vexillia. I wouldn't describe it as consolation, but knowing there are fellow sufferers counts as encouragement!

  2. Ross had a problem as well and my own views on the new version have been mentioned! It takes some getting used to and is still buggy...

    1. It was getting like that even before the new version arrived. I suspect there's a limit to how long they can keep this creaky old platform performing!

  3. If I cannot find time to paint I can at least think about what to paint next. It looks like some French artillery next for me.

    1. I do a lot of that too, Mark. I've got the most amazing army painted in my head!

  4. Browned off? When about to see off that cheeky crapaud Delaborde?

Life can be frustrating at times but would you rather be without a family, I know I wouldn't.

I likewise have had distractions lately and painting failures - in the end I just did the best I could with my LDs and they're now awaiting the final coat of varnish. To be honest without my painting glasses on and with the wonder properties of gloss varnish (1st spray coat) they're actually looking OK.

    1. Delaborde is biting back, Rob!
None of the above was the family's fault - just me being grumpy. It's all good in the end though. I'm now super motivated to do better next week.

  5. Thanks for the teaser WM. With these waiting in the wings it will be one heck of a review when it's ready!

    1. Cheers David. What makes me laugh is that the big parade will still only amount to 48 figures!

    2. Not counting the Dick Tennant figures, I have painted a grand total of 24 on my own. Just sayin'...

    3. *Laughter*. When these are done I'll actually have painted 96 altogether, if you add in the Prussians and Hanoverians, so it's not quite as desperate as I'm making out. I'm just fishing for sympathy.

    4. As I'm just finishing off my first unit 96 sounds like a lot! To be honest you already have enough for a good game so everything should just be indulgence now. As your armies continue to grow you must avoid the temptation to always put them all out smaller games with room to manoeuvre are usually more fun than wall-to-wall blood-letting.

  6. Love the polish lancers. Vistula lancers by any chance?

  7. We'll see more gems from you soon, I am sure. In the meantime, those lanceros diablos and Empress Dragoons are a treat!

    1. Thank you, James. The goal is two heavy and two light regiments for the French, but it's all taking much much longer than it ought to.
